Don’t you hate it if something breaks and you need to spend the money to replace it? I know, I do. What a hassle, especially if you really liked the item.
Last year, when the zipper from my husband’s backpack broke, he was upset, as he really liked the pack, plus the wasted time to replace it. After researching the world wide wisdom for the same backpack to buy (which doesn’t get made anymore) I remembered a conversation I had with a friend 10 years or so ago, that JanSport has a lifetime warranty. I still remember the conversation as we made fun of the lifetime warranty and that it probably didn’t work.
I told my husband about it. We agreed to give it a go. If JanSport doesn’t repair or replace the backpack, we ‘just lost’ the postage and buy a new backpack.
After sending the backpack off, two weeks or so later we received the backpack back as good as new. Not just the zipper was repaired; some other broken areas were repaired as well. Since then, I double-check each item for its warranty – what a money saver!
I love it. For me that’s next level couponing.
Here are some warranties I found in my household:
That’s my husband’s backpack which we got repaired. You can use this form from JanSport to send your broken item off.
It is as good as new
I love the set as the blade and handle are one piece. The only downside is that the set has no proper bread knife.
I am going to try this out as one of the knife’s blade has a crack.
Not sure how that could have possibly happen. Plus I just bought the set in September 2014.
Within the packaging of the knife set was the following instruction:
The North Face
I love the fleece which came with my jacket, but the zipper broke and I would hate to replace the fleece.
I just send my fleece off to get it repaired. Here is The North Face’s form.
I will keep you updated on the outcome.
Of course, not every product you buy has a lifetime warranty, but many have some sort of warranty from 30 days to 1 year or 2 years.
Some items need to be registered, like our stroller.
Registering the stroller was absolutely worth it. I had the basket replaced as well as one wheel and a rain cover. The costumer service was great and a picture proof of the broken part resulted in a replacement shipment within 2 days.
Product Satisfaction (Rebates)
Sometimes, I order my ink online to get a better deal. Unfortunately, while printing the ink stopped working. So strange isn’t it?
While storing the cartridge in its original packaging (for return to Staples’ recycling rewards program), I noticed that ink’s box states: 100% satisfaction guaranteed.
After calling the company where I ordered the cartridge from, I received a new one with a return envelop for the old one.
So keep your eyes peeled for those warranties and guarantees.
I hope this information helps you to keep more money in your wallet.
